Flow Labs at 2024 GLITE/WTS - Annual Meeting
June 3, 2024
Nathan Wade, Vice President of Sales, is attending the annual Great Lake District ITE meeting on June 12 – 14, 2024 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The annual district meeting will be held at the Green Bay Hyatt and KI Center. Nathan will present two sessions during the event.
Revolutionizing Emission Tracking in Transportation with Connected Vehicle Data
Combating climate change has shone a spotlight on the transportation sector, responsible for 29% of emissions in 2021. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) introduced a GHG performance measure providing a national framework for tracking emissions. State DOTs and MPOs are being asked to establish multi-year statewide emissions reduction targets. Many DOTs and MPOs lack emissions tracking expertise and it’s challenging to quantify emissions without knowing the exact number of vehicles in a given area; a metric that still eludes many. We’ll discuss how agencies can integrate data streams with CV Data, and use AI to generate accurate, comprehensive operations and mobility analytics for their roadways. By combining the correct data and technology with the EPA’s MOVES model, agencies will be able to track emissions, set reduction targets, and monitor progress.

Beyond Crash and Fatality Data: Using Behavioral Metrics to Improve Roadway Safety
Crashes are infrequent events, but that doesn’t make them any less devastating. Because of their infrequency, establishing reliable and predictive data can be challenging. Crash data is readily available to agencies, but to truly transform the way we measure and improve roadway safety, we must tap into the power of connected vehicle data and use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create a much more in-depth and accurate safety picture. By utilizing these resources, transportation agencies can effectively and affordably identify a range of safety risks, not just crashes, and address potential issues before they escalate into fatalities.
